Dear Members,
On behalf of the Canadian Rental Association board, I am pleased to announce that a new educational scholarship is being offered specifically for college and technical school students from Canada. The $1,000 (Canadian) scholarship is named for Dorothy Wellnitz, former executive director of the CRA, and will be administered by the ARA Foundation. If you would like to present a donation for the Dorothy Wellnitz Foundation, please download the Dorothy Wellnitz Scholarship Foundation Donation form here.
To promote this new scholarship, applicants must fill out the Scholarship Application forms from the ARA.
Graduate Level
Undergraduate Level
Technical Vocational Level
These forms are sent to all ARA / CRA Rental Store Members in March for members to share with a student who could benefit from this funding. Completing and returning these applications qualifies Canadian students for the new Dorothy Wellnitz Scholarship as well as for the 15 scholarships worth a total of $27,000 (U.S.) offered by the ARA Foundation.
Applicants must be affiliated with the Rental Industry, either as an employee of a Rental Operation, or a child of a Rental Store Operator. Education must be pertinent to the rental industry.
This is good news for students in Canada pursuing a rental-related education, since it provides another opportunity for educational funding. In the past two years, two students from Canada have received Foundation scholarships: The recipients are, in 2007, Liz Barry of Rental Network, Squamish BC and in 2008, Louise Serpa of Bel-Ayre Rentals, Winnipeg, MB.
The deadline to apply for the 2009-2010 scholarship is May 1, with all materials due to the ARA Foundation by that date. If you have any questions, please contact the ARA Foundation at 1-800-334-2177, ext 236.
Please spread the word about this new scholarship! Thank you for your support.
